TDY Medical Staffing, Inc. is currently looking for Sterile Processing Techs (SPD Tech) in a hospital environment. Contract Workers must have a High School diploma or GED Certification.  You must have good organizational skills, be quality-oriented, have the ability to work in a team-oriented environment and to handle multiple tasks daily by priority, and the ability to adapt to continual processing changes. You will be working in a production and fast-paced environment and your job will be dependent on your ability to learn new tasks and meet our clients goals.  We are seeking "team oriented" persons.

Under direct supervision, provides centralized support according to AORN (Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses), AAMI (Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation), CDC (Center for Disease Control), FDA (Food and Drug Administration), OSHA (Occupation Safety and Health Administration), and department policy in the areas of terminal sterilization and sterilization monitoring systems, decontamination and disinfection, preparation of surgical instrument trays, durable patient care equipment, case cart distribution and the maintenance of predetermined inventory levels and dispensing and distribution of sterile and non-sterile items from stock.

Job Qualifications:

Education: High School graduate or equivalent

Licensure: Certification from IAHCSMM or CBSPD/CRCST preferred and 2 years of experience. If no certification, our client may select individuals with extensive experience.

Skills & Abilities: Must possess basic reading, math, and computer skills in order to access instrument tray and pick lists. Must be able to distinguish between sterile and non-sterile; assure proper packaging techniques and appropriate sterilization cycles for all items. Must comprehend sterility maintenance, have a complete understanding of the sterilization process, and maintain a surgical conscience.

Candidate must have knowledge of equipment that provides decontamination and sterilization of Reusable Medical Equipment (RME) working in an operating room, nursing care unit or in a hospital central supply area distribution for supplies from the Sterile Process Department (SPD), i.e.,  such as:
  • Getinge
  • Medivator Advantage Plus
  • Steam Sterilizers
  • Sterrad 100S
  • Sterrad NX
  • heat sealers and incubators

Contractor must be a graduate of an accredited Sterile Processing Technician program must hold current Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification, no less than two years of experience in sterile processing within the last five years.

Responsibilities include decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and packaging of reusable medical supplies, instruments, equipment and apparatus. Equipment includes but is not limited to infusion pumps, vital sign check machines, heat therapy pumps, mobile suction pumps, and patient controlled analgesia pumps, defibrillators, enteral feeding pumps, isolation carts, intubation kits, and crash carts.


Benefits include 2 weeks (10 days) paid vacation after 1 year of service, sick leave, Full Medical coverage for all full time employees after 90 days and holiday pay.  You may be required to participate in a health insurance plan as a condition of employment.
