TDY Medical Staffing, Inc. is currently looking for well qualified Surgical Technician for a 12 month contract in Minneapolis, MN Area.
Working hours will take place Monday through Friday for a total 40 hours per week with some overtime. Daily working hours may be between:
- 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- 1:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Surgical Technicians with hospital operating room experience and knowledge of a wide variety of complex surgical procedures and their possible complications in order to prepare for the procedure, to anticipate the needs of the surgical team, to respond with speed and accuracy, and report observations and immediate procedural needs to the RN circular. Surgical procedures provided in the operating rooms include, but are not limited to: ENT, urology, orthopedics, cardiothoracic, vascular, colon-rectal, neurosurgery, plastics, gynecology, ophthalmology, dental, and general surgeries. The five (5) most common surgical procedures
include: total knee arthroplasty; total hip arthroplasty; abdominal surgery; prostatectomy; and vascular bypass surgery.
Skills Required :
Preference given to Certified Surgical Tech, however not required
Current BLS from American Heart Association
At least one year of continuous experience
The Surgical Technician functions as a primary scrub person responsible for handling
instruments, supplies, and equipment during all complex surgical procedures (i.e.
thoracic, major vascular, neurosurgery, complex spine, ENT, cataract surgery, and
orthopedic surgeries) coordinating patient care needs intra-operatively with the OR

equipment, fiber optic equipment, laparoscopic equipment, microscopes, lasers,
arthroscopy equipment, urologic equipment, and other operating room supplies and
188.8.131.52. Plans and discusses each procedure with surgical professionals and assures that all
supplies and equipment are available prior to the start of surgical procedure.
184.108.40.206. Prepares, organizes, and maintains highly complex sterile surgical setups.

the needs of the surgeon by maintaining a high level of concentration for extended
periods of time.

surgical devices during procedures.

appropriate actions in response to the patient emergent situation.

plan of care.

126.96.36.199. Must maintain the highest standard of integrity during interactions with patients, patients’
families; nurses, doctors; and other healthcare professionals. Contract personnel will
consistently communicate and treat others in a courteous, tactful and respectful manner.
188.8.131.52. Maintains equipment and work areas including:
- Performs non-technical maintenance of equipment to prevent malfunctions
- Maintains O.R. area in a safe and clean manner
- Assesses equipment needs and maintains adequate stock of supplies and materials
- Recognizes potentially hazardous situations (e.g., frayed cords, water on floor, etc.) and takes corrective action.
- Reports unsafe equipment working conditions to the O.R. Nurse Manager or Charge Nurse.
- Completes all mandatory safety training and annual reviews. Attends staff in-service meetings including completion of competency of new equipment/instrumentation
